I'VE BEEN HACKING : MY TAKE ON A "CAMPAIGN DRESSER"

Well hello again!  I know, I know it has been WAY longer than I intended to put up another post, but I promise it is not by lack of projects to share!  Here is one I did a while ago actually, but didn't get a chance to photograph until now.

We needed nightstands for either side of our bed, but they also had to have storage... so to Ikea I went in search of something budget friendly and something I could "hack".

.................. $39.99

Assembling the two dressers was the longest and hardest part... Ikea directions need I explain more! (My neighbors were all coming by to see what I was doing it took soooo long! I was outside so my three year old could play and I could keep an eye on him...atleast I started my summer tan!)

I painted the drawer fronts with gloss white appliance epoxy (works beautifully on laminate pieces!)

Once the paint was dry (tip: it says on the spray can to re-coat within a half hour or AFTER one week.. and for good reason, the paint has to either be semi wet still or completely set for the second coat to go on right) I added some gold corner brackets from the hardware store. I simply glued them on with Gorilla Glue... they are not going anywhere that's for sure!

............................

We love how they turned out...but I am still debating should I add campaign pulls to the middle of each drawer?

Thank you to all the hosts!

MYSTERY CABINETS: CREATING DISPLAY SPACE IN THE KITCHEN & SOME DE-BOOBING!

So there are these mystery cabinets above my stove/microwave that sit pretty much empty because they are so high and small that there is no point in really using them.  Until I saw a post on The 36th Avenue about turning unused cubbard space above the refrigerator into open cabinets for display...PERFECT!  And so another project is begun before the last one is finished...

As usual I broke the cardinal rule of blogging...no before pictures (or during for that matter!)  So picture little doors on there.. easy enough...

............. removed cabinet doors and filled in door hinge holes with some white spackle and paint

................. added wainscoting (cut to run horizontally) to the back and sides of cabinet walls

.....some potted herbs from my new favorite garden center, cookbooks and a shiny lantern for some bling

The lights FINALLY got changed out too!  We never changed out the original boob lights because I just couldn't find what I was looking for in my price range.

................. DA boobs

That was until I stumbled upon this guy at Menards for $40,  originally $140!  I picked up two...

................. DE boobed

next on the kitchen makeover list...
new counters
adding height to cabinets
french doors
(shhhh don't tell my husband!)
