I turned the corner and there was this coffee table in all it's weathered, chippy glory!
but the story doesn't actually start off with the light shining on the table and music playing...no, someone else spied it at the same time as I did but got to the ticket first! PANIC... so we got to talking and she said if she didn't get it I could have it, so I waited stalked her, no really I did! She was taking FOREVER to decide... I tried to act like I was looking at other things, when really all I wanted was that coffee table in my car going home with me! I was starting to sweat ... when all of a sudden ... she wasn't going to take it! WHAT?! I tried to play it cool like "yeah, your other finds are definitely better.." I held on to that ticket like it was the winning lottery numbers!
I LOVE the worn edges and all the deep grain it shows off... it was a little rough around the edges so I just lightly sanded it and now it is perfect for the little guy!
the top looks like an old piece of barn wood .. I wonder if someone made this table?
perfect spot for my favorite magazines and of course some fresh flowers...
SIGH...I AM SMITTEN

Ummm of course you are smitten because IT IS AMAZING!!!!! Wish I spied it first. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it is a beauty! Just gorgeous! And I have totally been there -- you know, stalking someone to see if they are going to take something that I MUST HAVE. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I'm glad it worked for you this time around!! ;-)
ReplyDelete$12??? Find of the century for sure. I LOVE it and it looks great in your room!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! That's hilarious! I definitely would have been stalking that woman too! What an awesome find! I love the old worn look!
ReplyDeleteSo the moral of the story is that stalking is a good thing?

Such a fab find!

Things are so much more fun to have when there's a story to go with them. I love the patina and handmade quality of your table. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteBest.Find.Ever~ How adorable! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's beautiful! What an amzing find (a smidge jealous). :)
ReplyDeleteLove the table, and can't beat the price! It was definitely worth stalking a complete stranger to get it! ;-) We have some old wood planks in the backyard that I think would make the perfect top on the old 80s oak coffee table in the basement.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your great find :-)

What. A. FIND! So oh so lucky!
ReplyDeleteIs it just NY, because we don't have pieces of furniture on our thrift stores for much less than $100, sometimes you will find something at $50-$70 if you are REALLY lucky, but I keep seeing these stories where folks find fabulous things for $10-$15!! Is it just NY prices being crazy?
ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful find and I would have stalked her too. . . LOL! I am glad you got it and I agree it looks like barn board, it is lovely and you finished it quite nicely!
That is one amazing find!!!! I'm glad you stalked her - it was worth the effort!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!
